2017 Fantasy Baseball Rankings – Batters – Week 17 Edition

Welcome to the fantasy baseball rankings report for week 17! We can now officially proclaim a changing of guard for MLB batters as Bryce Harper takes over first place and placing Aaron Judge down a notch to second place. This changing of the guard, as predicted in previous weeks, can partially be attributed to Judge’s continued high K% rate which now sits at 31% and a contact rate that’s dipped to 67%. His power is undeniable, but his ability to make contact is horrible. Harper, on the other hand, continues a torrid pace that’s backed by a solid skill set that includes a decent 76% contact rate, a BB/K rate north of .75 and an ISO number north of .300.

It’s also worthy of noting that Jose Altuve, Paul Goldschmidt and Joey Votto round out the top 5 with an outstanding display of skills that totally match the performance numbers that are shown. Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Arenado continue to help carry the Rockies with excellent batting skills as well.

A couple surprise members of the top 10 fantasy baseball ranking members include Justin Smoak and Giancarlo Stanton. While I’m not staying that their fantasy baseball performance aren’t supported by skills, I am saying that pre-season projections did not have their overall numbers sitting where they are today.
